ISLAMABAD: Customs Intelligence on Wednesday claimed to have confiscated smuggled cigarettes value tens of millions of rupees from totally different cities of the nation.

Based on FBR, Customs Intelligence on directives from Federal Board of Income Chairman Asim Ahmad and Director Common Customs Intelligence Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, the crackdown on cigarette traffickers has been intensified and lots of raids have been carried out towards the smugglers in the course of the previous 24 hours.

Within the wee hours of Wednesday, Customs Intelligence Karachi confiscated 250,000 sticks of international manufacturers cigarettes, having worth of Rs10 million whereas in one other raid, 400,000 cigarette sticks of international manufacturers have been confiscated from Saddr space of Karachi having market worth of Rs25 million.

Equally, 4000 sticks value Rs4 million and 1,050,000 sticks having whole worth of Rs30 million have been recovered from Multan and Dera Ismail Khan respectively.

General, over the past 24 hours, Customs Intelligence has confiscated 1,780,000 sticks of cigarettes of international manufacturers together with Pine Mini, Dunhill, Benson & Hedges, Inhale, Velocity Blue and Royal Enterprise with a worth of Rs79 million.

The Customs Intelligence has reiterated the resolve to eradicate the menace of cigarette smuggling. Regardless of restricted assets, Customs Intelligence has confiscated 39,187,000 sticks of cigarettes having a complete worth of Rs1.093 billion in the course of the ongoing monetary 12 months 2022-23.

Chairman FBR MAsim Ahmad and Director Common Customs Intelligence Faiz Ahmad Chadhar have appreciated the profitable raids in Karachi, Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar and Multan and expressed optimism that Customs Intelligence will proceed its crackdown towards smuggling typically and the smuggled cigarettes specifically.
